Our health and wellness programs are designed to reduce stress, decrease possible risk factors, and to improve one's overall well-being. Programs like yoga, and meditation are here to bring you joy through active engagement and to enhance your day-to-day life.
Mindfulness and Meditation
A disease like cancer is one of the most stressful times in a person's life. One way to calm the anxious emotions that cancer causes is through the practice of meditation. Through concentration and regulatory breathing or imagination exercises, meditation has the power to: lessen stress, improve sleep, increase energy levels, and more. Join our guided meditation that will relax your mind and body.
Exercise
Exercise is suitable for all fitness levels as it is modified as needed to fit your needs, this is a great way to help improve your overall physical health and well-being.
Cook, Learn, Savor
Cook, Learn, Savor is a program designed to teach healthy eating habits through hands on experience. In each class participates enjoy a live cooking demonstration, learn partial nutirion tips and the create the featured dish themselves. This interactive approach helps build confidence in the kitchen while making eating health fun and approachable.
Cooking for Wellness with Pluta Cancer Center
This is a free cooking class for those living with cancer, survivors, and/or their caregivers. Participants will prepare and taste flavorful recipes featuring seasonal fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and plant-based proteins. Participants will learn how to transition to a nutritious, plant-based eating program. Program is sponsored by Pluta Cancer Center Foundation.
Meals of Support
This program introduces healthy meal options that are sure to please the palate. All the ingredients are supplied for two delicious dinners including the spices. You make the meal at home using our easy-to-follow recipes. One meal is usually plant-based and the other meal may contain chicken or meat.
Food Pantry
Our food and nutrition programs aim to address food insecurity and nutritional vulnerabilities that can put the well-being of individuals on a cancer journey at risk. The Emergency Food Pantry is an additional resource available to our members. Members will be able to access the food pantry monthly for nonperishable food items from basic food groups including grains, vegetables, fruits, protein, etc. The shelves will be stocked with items specific to healthier options including low sodium, low sugar, natural juices, and whole grain products to support the good nutrition and dietary needs of individuals living with cancer. The food pantry will operate on a restricted monthly schedule, members must register online through the calendar.
